How it works
- HEIC/HEIF is the format iPhones use by default; Windows and most Android apps cannot open it, so JPG is the safe choice for sharing.
- If your browser can already decode HEIC (Safari on macOS/iOS) it is used directly; otherwise a WebAssembly decoder runs on your device.
- JPG has no transparency; choose PNG if the picture has a see-through background.
- Setting a maximum width is a quick way to shrink a 12-megapixel photo before emailing it.
